How to Create Proper Outgoing Business Message


If your, business has a phone line which it should unless you’ve just arrived in a time machine from the 18th century, then you certainly have existing customers and potential customers whom you may miss their calls sometimes.
If the message your machine or service play when you’re unavailable is done right, it will go a long way toward refining your brand.

Simply keep it brief and to the point, no customer wants to hear a long song or a message that may be inappropriate for business.
The following gives you guidelines and sample script you can work with.

  • Your name
  • Company name
  • Request for the caller’s name, message, and phone number
  • Commit to return the call.


Here is a sample outgoing business message:

“Hello, you’ve reached Darmie Orem, with DRS Etiquette. I’m away from my phone, but please leave your name; number and a message and I will return your call. Thank you for calling.
