Behind The Coaching Curtain

Would You Turn Down a Client Who Couldn’t Meet Your Standard? 🤔

Over ten years ago, a school in Lekki, Lagos, contacted me. They wanted practical dining etiquette training for their teachers. 🍽️

But there was a catch—their budget couldn’t cover a proper dining setup, and they didn’t have the tools or a training facility to make it work.

In my opinion, dining etiquette for teachers should be a personal investment. So, I asked, “Why train the teachers and not just the pupils?”

The head of the school’s response changed everything:
👉 “A teacher who doesn’t know good table manners won’t recognize when a child is getting it wrong.”

💡 That was my turning point! Their goal mattered more than my set standards. So, I found a way—we squeezed into a small classroom, adapted the training, and made it happen.

Sometimes, true excellence in coaching isn’t about rigid standards but meeting people where they are and transforming them from there. ✨
